Swing 46

Jazz and Supper Club in Times Square
Hot night: Tuesdays with house band George Gee Swing Orchestra, and every night at Swing 46 is a hot night with live incredible music! 8:00-11:00pm
Live music
This venue is perfect for everyone, newbies and seasoned dancers alike. Come for a drink at the bar, make reservations for dinner, and come to enjoy the music and dancing! Insider hint: say “dancer discount” at the door on Tuesdays with George Gee!

For some time we had regular performances as a part the Big Band Floor Show with Syncopated City Dance Company, so Swing 46 feels like home. George Gee kindly gave us a “bon voyage” jam at this venue to send us off before our tour with SWING! the Broadway musical on Norwegian Cruise Line!

Hotel Chantelle
Classy and rustic bar and rooftop restaurant on the Lower East Side
Hot nights: Tuesday evenings starting at 7:30pm, and Saturday brunch with Dandy Wellington and His Band
Live music
When listening to Dandy Wellington and His Band, it’s hard to keep in your seat, you have to get up and start dancing! When Dandy plays downstairs at the bar area there is a small but cozy-sized room to dance in front of the band, and when the band is upstairs on the rooftop there is enough space to dance among the tables! It’s highly encouraged you grab a friend and get up and show your stuff! Helpful hint: Happy Hour ends at 8:00pm, so get there early to nab those half-priced drinks!

We spent many weeks as regular Tuesday evening entertainment with Dandy at Hotel Chantelle, and we often continue to host dinners at this location, inviting a group of ten swing dancers with us to enjoy the music and the space to dance!

Louie and Chan
True prohibition-style speakeasy with 35 cent drinks near Chinatown
Hot night: Tuesdays 7:30-10:30pm
Live music by Michael Davis and the New Wonders
This event is not to be missed. Michael Davis and the New Wonders play the best of the 1920’s which brings you back to the era in this prohibition speakeasy. And if that isn’t enough for you, perhaps the 35 cent special drinks during their happy hour 7:00-8:00pm will convince you! It is a smaller space with room to dance, especially when it clears out a bit after happy hour!

Michael Davis has hired us a few times to bring authentic 1920’s dancing to the evening to add to the atmosphere and vibe of the speakeasy. We always have a phenomenal time because this band is simply top notch!

Gotham Jazz Club at The DL
Chic bar with space to dance on the Lower East Side
Hot night: Wednesdays
Live music with varying bands
Patrick Soluri of Prohibition Productions is amazing at finding fantastic locations for swing dancers to dance! You can always expect an awesome time at Patrick’s events as they always include beginner lessons, performances, and a live band each week!

Radegast
Beer hall with space to dance in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Hot night: Some Wednesdays and Thursdays, though there is live music often!
Live music
Who knew that beer + swing dancing = magic. When your there, make sure to order the french fries! They’re delicious.

Yehoodi’s Frim Fram Jam
Cozy dance studio near Penn Station, *the* swing dancers venue
Hot night: Thursdays, 9:00pm-1:00am
DJ-ed music
“Fram” is the swing dancers location. There isn’t a swing dancer in NYC who hasn’t been to Fram. This is the weekly constant, and most affordable option to go out and practice your moves with fellow swing dancers who range all levels from beginner to advanced alike. New DJs each week.

We love Fram, as it was our first social dance experience when we began swing dancing in NYC. Our Performance Class always performs here because the vibe is so welcoming and friendly and all-around amazing.

Tavern on the Green
Fun and classy bar located in Central Park

Hot Night: Fridays, 7:00-11:00pm
Live music by Fleur Seule
Enjoy dinner, a drink, or just a snack, and dance the evening away in the bar room! And in the warmer months, enjoy dancing outside in the most beautiful location in NYC, Central Park! We left for our long cruise contract just as this event was beginning to be reoccurring and we are excited to be a part of the magic an event soon.

Rainbow Room
Elegant dining experience with rotating dance floor on the top of Rockefeller Plaza
Hot night: Friday, 6:30-10:30pm
Live music
The Rainbow Room is an extravagant experience, definitely something to add and check-off your bucket list. Located on the top of Rockefeller Plaza, you can see the Empire State Building directly across the way, as well as the view of the entire city just from your dinner table. The city’s best jazz bands and swing orchestras play here, and there is plenty of space to dance.

A company we perform with, Syncopated City Dance Company, regularly was asked to add to the social dance ambiance of the evening for many months. You can see fellow swing dancers bring authentic 1930’s and 1940’s fashion and dance there on Friday evenings as well!

Pegu
Fun, social bar experience in SoHo
Hot night: Sunday nights
Live music by Glenn Cryzter and the Savoy Seven
This venue provides a compact yet cozy space to dance to the live music from the 1920’s, 1930’s, and 1940’s! This has become one of the more popular locations to dance, especially as this is the only recurring Sunday venue to swing!

MONTHLY

Swing ReMix
Beginner, intermediate, and intermediate/advanced level swing workshops with rotating instructors before evening dance
JCC in Manhattan, Upper West Side

Live music
We love Swing ReMix events! We are often asked to teach as a part of their rotating system of instructors for their intermediate and intermediate/advanced workshops before, and have also performed there to showcase our work. Every so often Swing ReMix will also hold fun competitions, and does a great job at getting a wide variety of dancers to perform there. They often have booths up outside the dance to purchase vintage clothing and accessories!

New York Swing Dance Society
Beginner lesson before evening dance
St. Jean Baptiste Church, Upper East Side

Live music
We have performed at the New York Swing Dance Society dances a multitude of times with the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers. We also enjoy going to NYSDS’s dances for the great vibe and space to dance!

The Salon / Prohibition Saturdays
Beginner lesson during event
Live music
The Salon hosts some of the best dances in NYC. Whether they be monthly Prohibition Saturday dances, or seasonal events, they go over the top with their offerings! Prepare yourself for drink specials, great space to dance, and burlesque and vintage performances.
