This event at NYU is so near and dear to our hearts–Brian created the event seven years ago and it was the first swing dance event Samantha ever attended and she knew then that she wanted to dedicate her life to this dance! The NYU Intercollegiate Swing Exchange connects Lindy Hoppers from dozens of colleges on the East Coast and is a full day of Lindy Hop, staring with hours of free workshops in morning and afternoon in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced tracks, and in the evening finishing with hours of social dancing, competitions, and performances. This year we had the pleasure of teaching the Intermediate track, judging the competitions, Brian was the MC for the evening, and Samantha was the scrutineer, tallying the competition results. We absolutely love being so involved, as we have been so invested in this event for many years since our days of being NYU students ourselves.
And we aren’t the only one’s invested in its success! Along with the current NYU Swing Dance Society President, four former presidents were in attendance in the evening as well! So, of course, we had to map their evolution:
Thank you to all who coordinated NISE to make it a great success, to our wonderful students who made our Intermediate class so awesome, and to the amazing dancers who came out and rocked the dance floor in the evening!
Now to a day of rest and recuperation from how we call it, being swungover!
