Tonight we were invited to perform at Symphony Space’s closing night of a month-long tribute to Harlem, “Harlem Resonance”. We were so thrilled to be part of such a huge tribute to Harlem, its influential residents, and the ideas which sprung forth during the Harlem Renaissance. It was an honor to represent Lindy Hop at The Savoy as a part of a theatrical fashion show called “Twilight in Harlem” featuring the delectable fashion in Harlem during the swing era of the 1920’s-1950’s. Joining the fellow dancers and models on stage was a live jazz orchestra, none other than the incredible Dandy Wellington and His Band. The highlight of the show was witnessing the extravagant Carmen deLavallade perform live at “The Savoy”. Being immersed in this world on stage made us yearn for booming jazz culture of decades past!
