Stam-Pede

This afternoon we once more had the pleasure of sharing the stage with The Vanaver Caravan, but this time right here in Manhattan. (To read about our previous experience in New Paltz, click here!) We performed a small excerpt from Pastures of Plenty, a tribute to Woody Guthrie, at Stam-Pede, an APAP showcase devoted specifically to percussive dancing. Ironically, we were hired by The Caravan back in November to do a Lindy number in the evening-length show, but today did no swing dancing whatsoever. The two pieces that we performed were beautiful combinations of tap and clogging, accompanied by live musicians. While the performances were not in our specialized style, the energy on stage was electric and highly contagious, making it impossible to not smile from ear to ear.

As a special random fact, the dress that Samantha is wearing in this photo belonged to Marjorie Guthrie herself, a dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, and wife of Woody Gurthie! Also, the overalls that Brian is wearing look SUPER good on him. Now to find a denim bowtie to match…
