This weekend we were invited to teach a series of social dancing workshops on a small island off the coast of Maine called, North Haven. Not only was the island picturesque, but the inhabitants were all great students and everyone who attended the lessons were eager to learn. We taught two days of workshops with six hours of workshops each day, giving a brief introduction to swing, salsa, rumba, cha cha, waltz, foxtrot, tango, and hustle. The classes were well received by all the students and we are currently talking about returning in the summer and making the workshops an annual or semiannual event. In the meantime, we will miss the island life of wood burning stoves, more lobsters than you can eat, and long walks on the beach.
