Tonight we were invited to dance at the Hempstead House with Roddy Caravella and his dancers for an evening of Latin and swing. We all got dressed to the nines, Brian in a tails jacket and Samantha in a dress made by Gretchen Fenston, and started the evening with a few dance lessons within the castle’s main ballroom. Roddy taught the crowd some Charleston moves of the 1920’s while Brian provided music on his ukulele to provide the ultimate vintage feel. Brian also lead the crowd in a salsa lesson before Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra took the bandstand. For the rest of the evening the dance floor was full of swing, salsa, cha cha, rumba, foxtrot, and more. Needless to say, tonight was truly a trip to the past.
